Our school is located on Isla Carenero, 5 minutes away from Bocas town, and it’s close to several surf spots, adjustable to any trainee’s skills. It also has another two branches on Isla Colon, where you can find a large variety of surfboards, surfing accessories, action cameras, snorkels, and any information you need. In Escuela del Mar, we offer activities for the whole family, including surfing and SUP (Stand up Paddle) classes for adults and kids over four years old. We also offer gear for rentals, like Kayaks, SUP, and Surfboards. You can’t miss the chance to enjoy the beautiful landscapes from our restaurant, “Bibi’s on the Beach”, located near Buccaneer Resort, meters away from our school. Here you can have breakfast or a proper meal before or after the activities on the sea. Bibi’s on the Beach has an extensive menu, from its specialty in sea fruits to its delicious Caribbean cocktails. Bibi’s has been named by visitors as one of the best restaurants in Bocas.
About Escuela del Mar – EDM
The school was created by Luis Bertone, an Argentinian surfer who has been living for many years in Bocas del Toro and has a lot of experience in the field. He’s very proud of having the opportunity to share and teach his knowledge in a fun way, always following the safety procedures to ensure a perfect surf trip.
This Surf Scool has a privileged and unique location on Carenero, close to easy waves for beginners and also waves for experienced surfers.
We provide clear explanations on every subject before going in the water. Student instructor ratio is 1 to 3-4 max.
Looking for things to do while in Bocas del Toro? Surfing is a great activity where you get to enjoy the surrounding beauty. Conditions for beginners are just excellent. The water temperature is awesome, it is pretty uncrowded, and the waves are perfect for learning (without having to necessarily ride white water) Unlike other activities, this can be done in the rain.
